The Mighty Peckham Village V Flamingoes - 25th April 2007

The game was certainly a game of two halves. Finishing the first half 4-1 down, was not bad considering we had already lost our winger to injury and conceded a penalty, which they put over the bar, justice was served! We had scored a goal, which meant that we had already exceeded the previous result against them and what a goal it was too, wicked free-kick. We were giving them a run for their money!
We came out fighting in the second half. Pulling them back to 4-3, they didn't know what had hit them with us scoring the two goals so quickly. Then, the rest as they say is history. They showed why they are near the top of the league. We had a number of players on the pitch playing through injury, struggling to hold on until the end and they exploited that fact. Our keeper made some brilliant saves to keep the score down. But in the end they won by quite a margin, I'm not 100% sure on the final score. I thought it was 11-3, others have said 13 and 15. The score is irrelevant now, the main thing is that every single member of the team, the players, the subs and the supporters, gave 110% to this game. In all, it was a massive improvement on the last time the two teams met and we certain gave as good as we got and kept trying until the end.
It was the last game of the season. So roll on next season, when we Mighty Peckham Village are going to be raring to go and push up the league. For now, we are looking forward to Friday night and our end of season party!!!
Next season - bring it on!!!

It's only fair to warn you!

Quick intro:
Hi all
The team when blogging will all use our numbers. I'm no. 7, the captain & centre mid fielder. Over the coming months players will place their own blogs, introducing themselves and sharing their stories.
I have to say right now that this season has been slightly interesting given our -126 goal deficit and you would think looking at this that we are sh*t, but you could not be further from the truth!
I could rattle on about how we have had no coach or goalkeeper until February and give you other long winded tales of sorrow but i won't as its simply not my style. Its enough to say that 'The Village' is on their way up and every new season brings new opportunities as all true supporter know.
Up the Village and watch this space...........
